Katherine Zitsch is a water policy leader with 30 years of experience advancing integrated solutions to Georgia’s complex water challenges. Her work spans environmental engineering, regional planning, and statewide policy, with a focus on aligning water resources with energy, agriculture, forestry, and natural systems.

Katherine contributes to initiatives that shape Georgia’s water future through 2050 and beyond, working collaboratively across sectors to build resilient and sustainable systems. She previously served in senior leadership at the Atlanta Regional Commission and as Director of the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District, where she helped guide long-range water resource planning for the Metropolitan Atlanta region.

As a board member of the Mountain Conservation Trust of Georgia, Katherine is particularly focused on elevating the critical connection between land protection and water. She brings a systems-based perspective to conservation, highlighting how healthy forest landscapes protect water quality, sustain communities, and support long-term ecological and economic resilience.

Katherine is a licensed Professional Engineer and Board-Certified Environmental Engineer, and she holds degrees in civil and environmental systems engineering from Clemson University (Go Tigers!).
