Pam Sunderland

Pamela L. Sunderland
Executive Director

pam@mctga.org

Pam Sunderland has been a member of the Mountain Conservation Trust since 2009 and has served actively on the MCTGA board since early this year. She was recently appointed to the Executive Committee and subsequently elected as the incoming Vice Chair before being asked by the Board to transition to the role of Executive Director, effective September 1, 2011.

Throughout a 20 year career in the real estate planning and development industry, Pam has served as director of business development, marketing, and project programs for environmental planners, civil engineers and architects in Maryland and Georgia. She also served as Managing Vice President for the land planning and engineering division of a Baltimore-Washington area real estate developer and as Executive Director for an Atlanta architectural design firm specializing in historic preservation.

Over the past two years, Pam served as a conservation real estate consultant in Georgia, and for a grant-funded non-profit conservation organization in Virginia, as part of a collaborative consulting team focused on developing innovative conservation programs within the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Pam developed a conservation planning program to assist landowners with natural resource assessments, best management recommendations, sustainable business enterprise development, and utilization of conservation finance mechanisms.

Pam has lived in Georgia since 1994 and is originally from Maryland’s Eastern Shore where she grew up on her family’s agricultural and horse farm. She attended Chesapeake College and the University of Baltimore, Merrick School of Business where she studied Public Relations and Marketing. She earned certification as a Georgia Master Naturalist through the University of Georgia Warnell School of Forestry.

Pam enjoys hiking, kayaking, sailing, and horseback riding, and spending time with her two daughters, Olivia, a senior at Georgia College and State University, and Louisa, a freshman at University of Georgia.

Vered Kleinberger
Executive Assistant

veredk@mctga.org

Vered has spent most of her life in Georgia...growing up in Metro Atlanta and attending Emory University.  Upon completion of a BA in Cultural Anthropology, she moved to Burlington, Vermont.  With her options wide open, she took any interesting jobs that came her way.  These included scooping ice cream at Ben & Jerry’s flagship store, cooking for a local restaurant, serving on the crew (and then later as crew leader) for the Winooski Valley Park District, and helping the beginner skiers and snowboarders on the bunny slope at Bolton Valley.  However, she always knew that education was her primary interest, so Vered moved back to Georgia, tutored local students, and then began Educational Excursions, a non-profit organization that offers hands-on, interactive programs for kids.

Vered runs the day-to-day operations at the Mountain Conservation Trust. She enjoys having a direct impact on preserving the beautiful North Georgia mountains while getting to know many of the wonderful folks who live in Pickens and the surrounding counties.
